We had to unpublish the last company that registered because it was an established company and not a startup. More, it was a company completely outside the scope of the startups, greekstartups is about.

Unfortunately the notion of a startup is not well understood. And it falls to our shoulders to try to educate the companies that want to register in greekstartups.com.
We will start doing this in a short post series shortly. But until we reach a better common understanding we have to take some steps that safeguard the integrity of this directory and purpose served.


Greekstartups is NOT a generic company directory. There are plenty such directories and definitely more complete.

Greekstartups is also NOT a place to gain free publicity and free links. It is also NOT for all types of business ideas.

As it is stated in the about page:

the focus is in the fields of innovative technology - in particular, the internet and software but also microelectronics and biotechnology

Not all of the registered startups fall into the above categories.
We have been lax so far, but we need to be more strick, for the benefit of the startups and for the proper information of the visitors.
We will do so after we make the rules clearer.
