With the weendy app, you can send and get real time information about all of the beaches that are in the area from people that are actually there. People can report if the wind and waves are good or if are dead and let others know where and when to hit the beach.
Innovation:
weendy is different in four key ways:
1) Forecasts are just predictions.
2) Land and sea breezes are impossible to predict.
3) Wind stations are stationary. We can ride anywhere.
4) Both Forecasts and Wind stations don't provide any quality value. Is it gusty? Choppy? Or just plain overcrowded?
Our vision was to build a simple tool that would do a simple thing: help people stop chasing the wind.
weendy overcomes the above limitations by transforming smartphones to mobile wind stations:
Each member makes a video report from the beach, estimates wind and shares it with every other member in the service.
A multicriteria algorithm, decides which user should be immediately notified about a report (how far is it? how windy is it? who made the report?) and reaches them using push technology.
Result:
- stationary problem: solved, members can go anywhere
- predictions problem: solved, real time video reports
- local phenomena: solved, members are there to report them
plus the added value of comments by other members
Seeking funding?:
As we are a team of two, we have to handle with so many different things(customer development,product development, marketing). At this phase, we need to grow our business in order to be faster, run the business model and spread the word worldwide. And that's why we are seeking for funding.
